Years ago I learned an important lesson that has helped me greatly as a freelance audio engineer… Other peoples music pays better! I’ve spent many years recording, editing, mixing and mastering some fantastic music and am grateful for the opportunity.
However, lately many people have been asking if I have any music of my own to share.
So, after spending much time running through mental exercises in an effort to get beyond my shyness when it comes to my own music, I decide to record one of my own and thrust it out into the wild and just…see what happens!
It’s called “Satisfied” and I hope you like it. Please leave me your feedback in a comment and share if you deem it worthy 😉
Luv it mate!! Great song… Should I remix it?
My name santo Agrillo. An Italian living in Australia … Love your tutorials too..-:)
Very nice, Dezz, great job, nice song. Well done.
Thanks Em!
Wow, I think that is a great song, Dezz. The performance/recording is hot and the rhythm is tight and driving. I like the sparse instrumentation, as it expresses something of the austere, driving and painful emotions. I am sorry about the situation, but the expression of it is powerful and poignant. It also speaks well of your mixing/mastering skills. Very cool. I’m proud of my teacher!
Thank you! Much appreciated.
I agree with what “Bgv” said. The rhythm drove the song so much that it kept my attention all the way through. The instrumentation in the middle section was superb and added even more tension and melodic entertainment as well. I really liked it. great work!
Thanks Ron!
Nice Dezz!!!
Your vox shone through when you hit the high note, you should try some more falsceto. Gets better as the song goes – I like the originality. Personally I would have panned the acoustic and percussion a little more wider for your vox to cut through better – LET IT ALL OUT DEZZ. Perhaps we’ll see a Dezz Asante album soon…….You’re
the man Dezz, I love what you do and how you do it. Peace, Love and prosperity to you.
Thanks for the kind words Denis! I will continue. You guys are all very encouraging.
you know it’s funny… and maybe it’s just the youtube destruction of a good mix (which is certainly top of the list of possibilities)… but it seems you buried your vocals a bit on this one. Especially compared to all the other mixes I’ve heard you demonstrate. Could this be a prime example of the artist being hesitant about his own skills, and that hesitation manifesting itself in the mix? That sounds like a whole video topic unto itself! =)
For the record, I think this is a very good song.
Hey Marc, you’re absolutely right! Upon second listen the vocals are a bit buried. I suppose that’s just me being shy.
Great song! Have confidence in your abilities Dezz!
Thanks Wade! I have confidence in many things but my singing voice has always been my weakness. Working on it though. Stay tuned for more 😉
Extremely talented vocalist. And the mix was tremendous..well balanced. . And if anyone thinks I’m just “bringing an apple to the teacher” and all that ,I’m not….Great job !
Thanks David! Very encouraging 🙂
I enjoyed your acoustic guitar, I barely could hear the vocals. I thought that I heard a little lead guitar but couldn’t hear it well enough to understand the melody. I thought the song was good.
yes, id like to order 11 more songs and id like it wrapped up in one package. i believe thats technically called an album? o3o seriously though, you should produce more of your own work when you have the chance.
Great song Dez. I love your videos and I am learning a lot. Would love to hear a bit more of your vocals and your music in general. You really hit some great high notes. I know you are a bit shy on your singing. That’s my specialty. Just realize there are people who think your singing is awesome and would love to hear more of it.
